In the fall of 2000 I wanted to add to our family of 2 permanent dogs and temporary foster dogs. I decided that a Whippet would be a good match. Found an ad in the newspaper for a Whippet that a family had gotten from the breeder at 9 months of age, had owned for the 6 months of spring and summer and then decided they didn’t want to bring him inside the house for winter (he had never been allowed to set foot in their house) so they wanted to get rid of him.
CJ is a white and brindle Whippet born July ’99. It took us about 6 months to work through his severe separation anxiety though at times I didn’t know if we ever would make it. It has taken a lot of work but I am happy to report that CJ is now happy, relaxed, gentle, affectionate and a master couch cuddler. We love him and in return he is teaching us the finer points of life with a heat seeking missile.
