Christin L. Turs

Although I do not have any Whippets, I fell in love with this breed in November of 2002 when I was involved in a rescue. I am a veterinary technician, and Spot was brought into our hospital by the police after being hit by a car. The owners signed custody of Spot over to the hospital when they were told a rescue group would adopt her. She was placed into rescue and had her leg amputated (at a hospital other than the one I was employed at) the following week. It's now almost 3 months later. Spot is still with her rescuers and is living comfortably with 3 other Whippets, 2 Whippet-Border Collie mixes, and cats. I am looking forward to attending my first Whippet race (of course the dogs are pets, not racing commodities) this spring to see these magnificent dogs 'run like the wind'. Thank you to all dedicated and hard-working rescuers out there.
