I share my home and life with two whippets: Rupert, an eight-year-old fawn/white boy, who has always been skinny and timid but is becoming more assertive since our recent addition of Kimmi. She’s a two-year-old fawn watermark/white girl who is a real hand full! Last year Rupert & I lost our best friend Chaucer after a short battle against a very aggressive cancer. He was the most handsome and perceptive whippet ever and I still struggle with his early parting. But . . . my pups keep me busy. Rupert enjoys the creature comforts (fluffy furniture and sunny spots in the yard) and truly has a heart of gold. Kimmi is relentless and sneaky (she led me to the poison control hotline three times in our first month), but a sweetie with episodes of the dreaded “Velcro syndrome”. We live just east of Orlando, FL and have participated in lure coursing and agility training. Though they aren’t truly gifted in either, it’s great for socialization. And, they’re easily recognized at any event; Rupert air-humps endlessly while Kimmi leaps and spins . . . they’re affectionately known as “The Humper and The Jumper”. I’m addicted to this forum and interested in whippet health and anything that improves their environment/surroundings.
