My love for whippets began after reading about Linda Solano's little therapy whippet named Willow and meeting a "greyhound puppy" while jogging one weekend. I was hooked. After contacting breeders I found a litter of three week old puppies. That was in the beginning. Reggie ( Shaldra Mikater Jitterbug by Ch Affire On a Clear Day, MC v Shaldra Mikater Topaz )) was born October 20, 2000 and came to live with us a few weeks later. He was bred by Kyle Sibinovic in Frederick, Maryland. Reggie was shown a few times, but lacked an early interest in the conformation ring. He was obedience trained and has found his niche as a therapy dog. Ironically, the little dog, Willow, who sparked my interest in whippets in the first place was Reggie's half sister! Reggie joined The Laurel Maryland Fidos for Freedom therapy dog group in March, 2003 and with them has participated in the DEAR ( Dogs Encouraging And Assisting Readers) program. Therapy dog teams spend time each Saturday reading with reluctant and below grade level third graders. Reggie also passed the Delta Therapy dog test in the fall of 2003, and visits an adolescent psychiatric unit with his half sister Jessie and Linda Solano.

Sierra ( Shaldra's Great Expectations by Ch C Square Boogie Nites V Falconer x Shaldra Mikater Moment to Moment) is Reggie's first cousin, was born March 5, 2002. It is thanks to Sierra that I am learning to handle in the conformation ring. She is also starting to lure course, and hopefully, will be dually successful.
