Chester's Mom a.k.a. Judy
| Hello Whippet Lovers!! My name is Judy and I live in Chesterfield,
Michigan. I'm 41and married to a wonderful man, Joe. We have two (almost
grown) two-legged children; our son is a Systems Engineer and our daughter
is in her second year of college. We lost our Black Lab, Otto, in August
of 2000 to a grand mal seizure and hyperthermia. I had always said that
once he was gone, there would be NO MORE DOGS! for us. Well, guess who
can't stand being in a quiet house?!?! Anyway, friends of ours were
telling us how they wanted to adopt a greyhound. We had never considered
the breed before, and I started to do some research on the Internet. That's
when I discovered WHIPPETS. I started reading everything I could about them. My
husband decided that rescue would never work for him; we just lost our ten
year old last summer and he couldn't bear the thought of losing another
pet in just a few years. We contacted a breeder here in Michigan,
and after many phone calls and a visit to her home, we made the final
decision. Chester (our name for him), will be coming to live with us on February
10th. He'll be eight weeks old. We can't wait!! We have his VariKennel
ready near our bed, his Eukanuba puppy food, and lots of chew toys ready
and waiting. Your site has given me some more insight to the breed (and
some scary thoughts, too). We don't plan on showing him. We just want a
family member, however, obedience training is one of the things we do plan
on doing with him. I'm rambling, I know. We're just so excited and I am
grateful to have found this site where real people discuss their Whippets.
