I've been reading this board for several months, ever since I first heard about whippets. I've been so impressed by all the wonderful things everyone has to say about whippets. Someday, I hope I will own a couple. Unfortunately, my life right now is just not whippet-appropriate. I've posted a few messages under the board name "potential owner".

I am a grad student in geology at KU in Lawrence, KS. I'm very interested in going to whippet events around Kansas, so if anyone knows of any, let me know!!! I also lurk at the local dog shows and volunteer at the Lawrence Humane Society.

I am owned by a manx cat named Kate. She came from the humane society in Dec. 2003 and she's still trying to train me. I've recently learned that when she pounces on my foot and wraps herself around my ankle using all her sharp pointy bits to stay attached, she wants to play.

As for whippet-related interests: flyball, frisbee, agility, obedience, therapy, live coursing and rescue/foster. This is not to say that I know a lot about these topics, this is simply what I'm interested in doing with my future dogs, depending on their interests and personalities.

I'd like to thank everyone on this list for creating such a wonderful environment for both the new and the old dog owners out there. I really enjoy this board. It's been a great help to me already and I'm sure it will be even more useful once I get my whippets.
