Willow a.k.a. Sophie Porter
| I'm only 11 years old and before i was born my parents went to see some
rescue dogs. they came home with tess, a 13 week old pure-bred whippet,
black and white, who had been tied up to a thorn bush near some fields. it
wasn't long before she became friendly, though she would snap at young
children tormenting her. when she was 16 (i was 7) she had to be put down.
we missed her dearly (and the whippet zara and greyhound charlie who my
mother had had before tess). for 3 years we had no whippet (though we had
some rats, rabbits and gerbils) and although i love my rats very much,
they didnt compare to a dog, especially a whippet. in 2000 (around agust/september)
i was 10, i persuaded my mum to have another whippet. one day mum found
the number for the kennel club and got some forms for whippet breeders.
The nearest litter was 3 hours drive away so we phoned up to reserve a
female pup. the next weekend we drove to the breeders house and saw Tilly.
Over the past week, the breeder had had 18(!) phone calls for the whip but
she had kept her to see if we still wanted her. she talked to us and realized
that the pup would be right to live with us and we took her home (although
she was sick a few times from the drive.) tilly is nearly 2 now, born on
the 31st of July and loves to go for long walks with her westie cousins
(max and millie) around the local lake. we love her to bits. she is white
and fawne with blue-grey colour around her face. her eyes are strangely
fawne and they are outlined by a rim of black. she is truly beautiful and
really friendly to everyone. Email: sophie_sugar@hotmail.com |
